Zelda M. Verrett, LMFT, NAFC

Zelda M Verrett, Psychotherapist and founder of InSight Therapeutic Solutions, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California and works out of her office in the city of Colton. Her agency has grown from one therapist to four therapists. Ms. Verrett is also a Clinical Supervisor for Marriage and Family Therapist Interns and Social Worker Associates. She is a member of many professional organizations including: the California Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, American Psychological Association, the American Association of Christian Counselors, National Association for Forensic Counselors, and Certified National Parenting Facilitators. She received her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University in 2010. She is also trained to provide and facilitate psychoeducation groups for Depression and Anxiety, Court Ordered Parenting Classes, Traumatic Grief, Loss, and Crisis counseling.

Expertise:

Ms. Verrett’s professional experience spans over 34 years working with children and families in private therapeutic settings, non-profit organizations, public social service agencies, and community outreach. Ms. Verrett has worked with Intellectual and Developmental Challenged Teens and Adults (in-home and out of home services), Substance Abuse Treatment (Outpatient), Parolees, Child Welfare Services (in Foster Care), Juvenile Probation Department, Juvenile Drug Court, Homeless Disabled Veterans, Family Court Services. A majority of Ms. Verrett’s professional experience has been in the field of Behavioral Health, case management, foster care, forensic interviewing, and managing a (crisis line for children and adults). She also served as an Administrator for a Foster Family Agency.

Ms. Verrett also provided group therapy for, teens, veterans, women, sex offenders, LGBTQ community, and Transgender clients in transition. Ms. Verrett’s therapeutic style/approach is integrative and eclectic (wide-ranging/broad-based) drawing from the various practices and theories/hypotheses such as; Strength-Based Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Social Learning Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Problem Solving model, Positive Psychology, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Structural Family Therapy, Prevention Therapy, and Crisis Intervention. 

Counseling Relationship:

Ms. Verrett sees therapy as a pathway; an emotional/feeling/problem-solving road traveled in which individual(s) enhance the discovery of themselves on a more deep and clear level and become in-tune and understand with your feelings, emotions, thoughts, choices, decisions, and judgments by gaining insight into how you think, react and bring choices and decisions made to light; which in turn, helps you understand your view of doing things and how you perceive the world around you. As a facilitator of self-awareness and empowerment, the clients gain an understanding of their own power and ability to make changes they want to occur in your lives. Ms. Verrett sees therapy as a team effort by working together to explore the issues/concerns from your perspective. Ms. Verrett believes the overall goal of therapy is to increase self-awareness, self-expression, communication, understanding of thoughts, feelings, emotions, developing and learning of new behaviors (if you choose), making healthy and positive lifestyle changes (if you determine), and/or to learn to manage within your environment. Ms. Verrett believes people seek therapeutic services as there is a desire, need and want to become and remain emotionally happier, emotionally healthier and to make positive lifestyle changes and to learn to deal and cope with making your environment happier for yourself.
